OUR RELATIONSHIP
WITH
Dope Girls
In 2024, LUNA TIDES partnered with public relations agency IJPR, major production company Bad Wolf, and the BBC to deliver a multi-tiered promotional asset campaign for the flagship drama series, Dope Girls. Seeking a trusted production team capable of navigating high-stakes network requirements and strict broadcasting timelines, stakeholders selected our team to spearhead the end-to-end production of the project's Electronic Press Kit (EPK), high-end promotional features, and educational trainee materials.
Following the successful delivery of the primary broadcast assets, our collaboration organically extended to regional industry bodies, including Screen Alliance Wales (SAW) and Creative Wales (CW). We continued working hand-in-hand with their teams to package and distribute specialized behind-the-scenes content designed to highlight regional industry talent, funding impact, and on-set career development initiatives.
We love them!

FEATURED WORK

LUNA TIDES was commissioned by Bad Wolf to create a full Electronic Press Kit (EPK) for Dope Girls; a six-part historical drama for BBC One that charts the birth of Soho’s nightlife in post-war London. With broadcast slated for early 2025 and worldwide sales handled by Sony Pictures Television, the publicity team required two substantive behind-the-scenes features suitable for press junkets, international buyers, and festival screenings, and a bank of “hero” stills optimised for social channels, trade-press releases, and VOD platform art. The brief demanded end-to-end coverage - planning, on-set capture, editing, graphics, clearance and delivery.
Beyond the core publicity campaign, the mission grew to encompass a critical educational mandate: capturing and profiling the journey of local screen industry trainees. This required balancing a complex web of independent stakeholder guidelines, satisfying strict technical broadcasting parameters, and engineering an agile post-production workflow capable of adapting to fluid, multi-agency feedback.
Our team went straight to work, developing multiple narratives for consideration, ultimately landing on two features: The World of Dope Girls - following production design, costume, and hair and make-up from empty sound stage to finished set; and The Rise of Dope Girls – profiling the female-led creative team and cast, echoing the series’ themes of female enterprise.
Operationally, the post-production phase required immense flexibility. We managed massive quantities of raw broadcast footage, continuous soundtrack adjustments, and timecode corrections to seamlessly stay in lockstep with the network’s changing episode cuts. To maximize efficiency within a tight production window, we capitalized on our deep library of on-set assets to supply split-track audio configurations and clean, textless video layers to meet exact global distribution specifications for Sony Pictures Television.
Simultaneously, we structured a secondary storytelling focus highlighting the work of industry newcomers through a dedicated Dope Girls Trainee Feature. Working alongside Creative Wales and Screen Alliance Wales, we implemented custom sponsor endcards, structured interview cuts, and organization branding to fulfill community funding criteria while elevating the profiles of emerging regional talent.

After an extensive post-production period, the two final 9-minute features were released to BBC iPlayer. The featurettes ran pre-roll at BFI’s “Women of the Night” season, amplifying early buzz ahead of the February 2025 TX. These EPK assets not only met Sony’s, BBC’s and Bad Wolf’s publicity needs but became a key part of Dope Girls’ brand identity, reinforcing the show’s message of bold, female-driven creativity while giving audiences a vivid glimpse behind the velvet curtain of 1920s Soho.
The campaign generated an immediate, highly enthusiastic response across the entire broadcasting and governmental hierarchy:
1 - The BBC was so impressed by the final cut of The Rise of Dope Girls that the Digital Commissioning team selected the feature to anchor the show's digital rollout, hosting it directly on the global BBC Drama YouTube channel.
2 - Sony Pictures Television successfully approved and ingested the specialized textless masters and split-track audio assets, streamlining international sales and localized distribution portals.
3 - Creative Wales gave the trainee features an incredibly positive reception, stating they "love them" and immediately requesting copies to deploy across official government channels to showcase regional talent development.
