SUSTAINABILITY POLICU

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. We, at LUNA TIDES, care deeply about protecting and preserving the natural environment and the biodiversity within and are particularly aware of the negative impact that business operations can inflict on them. As an SME, we are committed to developing and implementing sustainability initiatives, circular processes, and environmental stewardship at the earliest stages of our business growth, embedding this into our decision-making and business planning as we grow.

PURPOSE

1.2. The purpose of this policy is to formalise our long-term commitments to supporting environmental legislation and best practice, improving our sustainability performance and to minimising the environmental impacts of our business operations.

SCOPE

1.3. This policy applies to all employees, contractors, sub-contractors, agency workers, interns, and apprentices (whether part time, full time, fixed term or permanent).

1.4. This policy will be shared with suppliers, partners, consultants, and potential clients to demonstrate our commitments and alignment with sustainability goals.

2. COMMITMENTS

Within this section, we outline our specific commitments to sustainability under the four pillars of:

  • Organisational Change;

  • Sustainable Procurement;

  • Energy and Carbon;

  • Water, Waste and Recycling

2.1 ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE

  • Promoting responsibility and stewardship for the environment within LUNA TIDES Productions and communicating commitments and/or individual obligations to all employees, partners, suppliers, and clients

  • Complying with relevant environmental legislation

  • Assessing the environmental impacts of our operations and setting transparent annual targets, and monitoring performance against these targets on an ongoing basis

  • Appointing an Environmental Champion within the business to encourage sustainable practices to employees and to review and action new ideas that will help us to grow

  • Consistently developing our services, to follow best practice where possible, and to best align with our client’s sustainability goals and strategies

  • Working with environmental specialists as required to ensure we continuously meet regulatory standards

2.2 SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT

  • Making informed purchasing decisions by identifying suppliers, contractors, products, or services that are low impact, Fairtrade and/or can prove transparent and ethical environmental practices and credentials, and prioritising the use of these suppliers/products/services where possible

  • Working in collaboration with suppliers and contractors to understand and eventually reduce environmental impact across the supply chain, and to identify areas of risk and opportunity with regard to minimising negative impact

  • Transitioning to procurement of energy from renewable sources (e.g., solar) and using energy efficient technologies and products (e.g., LED lighting)

2.3 ENERGY AND CARBON

  • Consciously considering mode and level of transport required for meetings and shoots, utilising public or lower-emission transport options where possible and/or using alternatives where transport can be avoided altogether (e.g., video conferencing for meetings)

  • Encouraging carpooling between LUNA TIDES Productions employees and contractors travelling to the same meeting or shoot, to reduce number of vehicles and as such, total emissions

  • Monitoring and working to reduce energy usage in our operations where possible, particularly across production equipment, IT, and utilities

  • Monitoring and working to reduce emissions (particularly Scope 1) where possible, using suitable carbon offsetting methods in instances where we are unable to reduce meaningfully

  • Working to understand our Scope 2 and 3 emissions with an aim to reducing in the future

2.4 WATER, WASTE AND RECYCLING

  • Adopting the waste hierarchy model of waste prevention, reuse of materials, recycling (segregated where possible, then mixed) and energy recovery to minimise waste disposal from our operations, both on and off site

  • Ensuring waste is recycled or disposed of, in the most appropriate and sustainable way possible (e.g., donation of old equipment)

  • Actively working towards becoming paperless, reducing paper usage in our operations through digitisation of documentation

  • Actively working to reduce the use of single-use plastic within our operations and investing in circular and reusable alternatives where possible

  • Actively working to monitor and reduce the quantity of water used within our operations

3. RESPONSIBILITY

3.1. The Managing Director has ultimate responsibility for this policy, including its review, update, and continued compliance with legal obligations.

3.2. All LUNA TIDES Productions employees are responsible for reading and familiarising themselves with this policy and for their compliance with the commitments outlined within.

4. REVIEW AND MAINTENANCE

4.1. This policy is reviewed on a bi-annual basis.
