OUR RELATIONSHIP
WITH
Ideas Festival
Our relationship with Ideas Fest began through the National StartUp Awards, after LUNA TIDES was named Creative StartUp of the Year in Wales in 2022. As part of the StartUp Awards community, we were invited to attend Ideas Fest - a two-day festival bringing together founders, entrepreneurs, speakers, workshops, entertainment and networking.
Rather than simply attending, we saw an opportunity to support the festival with our production expertise. Following an initial conversation with the Ideas Fest team, the scope developed into a collaborative partnership covering video production across both days of the event.
The project was structured as a contra partnership, with Ideas Fest covering the cost of crew and LUNA TIDES providing the post-production. In return, the festival offered a package of promotional opportunities including social media amplification, website placement, on-site branding and inclusion within its wider post-event communications.
This is great! What you've created works really well. Thanks again!
Ideas Festival
FEATURED WORK

The brief was straightforward: capture the energy, people and variety of Ideas Fest and turn two full days of activity into a concise set of engaging video assets that could continue to promote the festival after the event.
The agreed deliverables were:
Two days of general event coverage
Two LUNA TIDES crew members with professional production equipment
Two 2–3 minute highlight films
Two 15–30 second social media edits
The challenge was capturing a festival with a constantly changing programme across multiple areas and activations. The team needed to move between talks, workshops, food and drink, entertainment, networking and the wider atmosphere of the event - creating enough coverage to tell the story of the festival rather than simply documenting individual sessions.
We approached Ideas Fest as a live storytelling project, building coverage around the overall experience of the festival rather than focusing on a single stage or speaker.
Across the two days, our crew captured attendees arriving, sessions taking place, different festival areas and a wide range of activations. The schedule included everything from public speaking and startup sessions to workshops, art, food and drink, circus performances and evening entertainment. On the first day alone, coverage ran from the morning through to 10pm.
This meant working quickly and flexibly on location, anticipating moments rather than simply following a fixed shot list. With multiple activities happening simultaneously, the production team had to make editorial decisions throughout the day about where the strongest stories, interactions and visual moments were happening.
Back in post-production, the footage was shaped into two distinct highlight films, giving the festival reusable content that could communicate the scale and atmosphere of the event without becoming a conventional long-form event recording.
We also produced two short social edits, designed to give Ideas Fest additional, more immediate content for its digital channels. The final package was agreed at two 2–3 minute highlight edits and two 15–30 second social cuts.

The project gave Ideas Fest a suite of professionally produced video assets capturing the experience of the festival across two days — from its programme and activations to the people and atmosphere that made the event distinctive.
The final deliverables provided the festival with:
2 × highlight films
2–3 minute edits capturing the wider Ideas Fest experience.
2 × social edits
15–30 second cuts created for shorter-form digital promotion.
Beyond the video deliverables, the partnership gave LUNA TIDES a route into the wider Ideas Fest and StartUp Awards ecosystem, while demonstrating how production expertise could be used as part of a broader commercial partnership.
At the time of the project, Ideas Fest reported an engaged community of around 50,000 people, alongside 13,856 organic LinkedIn impressions and 9,769 Instagram accounts reached over the previous 90 days. The associated Fresh Business Thinking network had also reached more than 84,000 people year-to-date, providing a substantial distribution network for the wider partnership.
What began as an invitation to attend the festival became a collaborative production partnership - allowing LUNA TIDES to contribute to the event while creating a strong body of work around live events, brand storytelling and social content.
