OUR RELATIONSHIP
WITH

Rubbertoe Replicas

Our relationship with Rubbertoe Replicas began in November 2025, when founder Nick Robatto approached LUNA TIDES to discuss video production for an upcoming venture. Known for creating officially licensed Doctor Who prop replicas, Rubbertoe Replicas was exploring a new direction focused on custom-designed sci-fi gadgets and DIY assembly kits.

Based nearby in Barry, the shared location made it easy to meet at their workshop, get to know the team and see the prop-building process first-hand. From the outset, the collaboration was built around a shared interest in creating engaging, useful content that brought the craftsmanship behind the products to life.

Rubbertoe Replicas gave LUNA TIDES access to their workshop and the full prop-building process, allowing us to develop a multi-asset video package that introduced the new business direction, showcased the craftsmanship involved and provided clear, engaging instructional content for their custom products.

Really nice work!

FEATURED WORK

  • As Rubbertoe Replicas expanded from licensed replica props into custom sci-fi gadgets and DIY assembly kits, the brief was to create a video suite that could support the launch across both brand and customer-facing channels.

The project centred around three key assets: a fast-paced 1–2 minute brand introduction designed to generate interest; a candid 1–2 minute workshop tour showcasing the environment and craftsmanship behind the products; and a more detailed 20–25 minute assembly tutorial to guide customers through building their own DIY kits.

The challenge was to capture and deliver three very different pieces of content within a single filming day, while maintaining a high production value and working within the client’s target budget.

  • LUNA TIDES worked closely with Nick to structure the single-day shoot around the requirements of all three deliverables, making the most of the available time while keeping the production efficient.

To make the detailed 20+ minute assembly tutorial achievable alongside the promotional content, we designed a multi-camera workflow using an ATEM setup. Fixed camera angles allowed us to capture the full assembly process while switching between views live on set, significantly reducing the amount of editing required in post-production. This gave us a complete, engaging record of the build while keeping the production within the available budget and timeframe.

For the brand introduction and workshop tour, a focused two-person crew covering camera and lighting captured a mix of dynamic workshop footage, product details and on-camera commentary with Nick. The day was structured around a 9am–5pm schedule, starting with the fixed-desk assembly tutorial before moving into more candid, mobile coverage around the workshop.

In post-production, we refined the live-edited assembly footage, removing pauses and unnecessary sections, while shaping the brand introduction and workshop tour into polished, fast-paced films.

  • The project delivered a complete, multi-asset video package to support Rubbertoe Replicas’ new product launch. By combining a live multi-camera workflow with an efficient single-day production, LUNA TIDES delivered more than 25 minutes of tailored video content while remaining within the client’s agreed budget.

The resulting suite provided a strong foundation for the new venture, combining engaging brand content with practical instructional material to help customers get the most from their DIY kits. The approach demonstrated how thoughtful production planning and the right technical workflow can deliver a high volume of quality content without increasing production time or cost.
